I hope everyone's wintertime holdiays went well. And it's 2011! Wow, a whole new year. In honor of the other holiday recently, for us book fans anyway, (Harry potter 7 the movie) I have decided to review the last book of the Harry potter series!
In this book, instead of following the traditional 'Harry goes to Hogwarts and has an adventure' plot line, JK Rowling takes the adventure to a whole new level: the world outside of the school. The trio of Harry Ron and Hermione get together for one last epic tale of mystery, intrigue and shocking discovery. On their own and discovering Horcruxes, Harry, Ron and Hermione run in to many problems, such as: horcruxes fighting back, lack of food, and the new regime which consists of death eaters, pure blood's, and snatchers. Not to mention, the ministry's new outlook of hating muggle-borns and deciding on its new number one outlaw: Harry himself. And still out there, biding his time, is the notorious Voldemort... It can't be too much longer before they must come face to face.
The one that I really didn't like in this book were all of the unnecessary deaths. I know they were in a war with Voldemort and all, but it seems as though within that JK Rowling was trying to up the sadness to an astronomical amount. It felt as though she was trying to keep us in tears the entire time.
I give this book a 95% because it's a Harry Poter book, written by an incredible author. I know that I cannot show 95% in paint splotches, but I will do my best.
Oh and-- slight spoiler alert!
See if you can guess who is pictured here in Hogwarts' dress, next to a window overlooking the great lake... Hmm... Freckles? Slightly large front teeth?
'Red hair... and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley' -Draco Malfoy, movie 1
